Juventus Management Set For Reshape Without Giuntoli: Comolli and Tognozzi to Join

Juventus are undergoing a dramatic transformation at the executive level, with the imminent departure of Cristiano Giuntoli, the club’s Head of Football, after just two seasons in Turin. The decision, driven by club owner John Elkann, follows a period of disappointing results and controversial transfer decisions.

The End of the Giuntoli Era

Giuntoli, who arrived from Napoli in the summer of 2023, was initially seen as the architect of a new Juventus. However, his tenure has been marked by high-profile transfer flops and the sale of promising young talents who have since flourished elsewhere. The failed project with coach Thiago Motta and a turbulent 2024-25 season sealed his fate, with the club now ready to part ways despite his contract running until 2028. Alongside Giuntoli, key collaborators Giuseppe Pompilio and Stefano Stefanelli will also leave the club.

The New Juventus Leadership

IlBianconero report that in response to these challenges, Juventus is preparing a comprehensive overhaul of its management structure:

  • Damien Comolli Joins the Board
Former Toulouse president Damien Comolli is set to join Juventus, bringing with him extensive experience as a talent scout and sporting director. He will report directly to CEO Maurizio Scanavino, though his exact formal title within the club is yet to be defined.

  • Matteo Tognozzi Returns as Chief Scout
Matteo Tognozzi, who previously worked as Juventus’ head scout before a stint as sporting director at Granada, will return to his former role. His expertise in talent identification is expected to be a cornerstone of the club’s new strategy.

  • Giorgio Chiellini’s Expanded Role
Club legend Giorgio Chiellini is poised for a promotion to a more central and influential position within the organization. While his precise title is still under discussion, he is a leading candidate for a general manager or even a future club president role.

A Broader Restructuring Plan

The reshuffle follows the recent exit of Francesco Calvo, the former Managing Director of Revenue & Institutional Relations, who is moving to Aston Villa as CEO. Juventus is clearly signalling a break from the past, aiming to inject fresh ideas and leadership into the club’s hierarchy.
