Pierre Kalulu, one of Juventus’ rising stars, spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport (as quoted by IlBianconero) ahead of the Club World Cup, sharing his thoughts on his future, his role in the team, and his ambitions with the Bianconeri.
On His Permanent Move to Juventus
“Honestly, I was never afraid that Juventus wouldn’t redeem me. I’ve always had faith in my work and I’m happy that everything went well.”
Feeling at Home in Turin
“I was on loan, but actually, since last summer, I’ve always felt part of the team and the Juve environment. My situation has changed at the contract level, but the rest is the same.”
On Teammate Randal Kolo Muani
“Randal doesn’t talk much about his contract, the important thing is that he scores goals. In a big team like ours, internal competition is fundamental. We’re happy that he’s with us: I like this French-flavored Juventus.”
Tudor’s Optimism About the Champions League
“In March he said it, and he was right. Now he keeps repeating one concept to us: he wants us to start strong and well in the debut against Al Ain.”
The Importance of the Club World Cup
“It’s very important for us and we’re proud to be here. It’s for clubs, but it’s still a World Cup. We see it as a continuation of last season. We know exactly how we want to play, there’s great enthusiasm in the group, we’re in good physical shape and we’re here to win as many matches as possible. We’re watching the other games and we’ll have to respect all our opponents, starting with Al Ain.”
On PSG’s Strong Start
“No, because the Club World Cup is the continuation of the season. PSG finished in May by dominating the Champions League final against Inter and so they arrived in the United States with a lot of confidence.”
Would He Give Up Holidays to Win the World Cup?
“Of course, even a year of holidays… Trophies count more than anything else because they allow you to stay in history and become a legend.”
His First Call-Up to the French National Team
“Getting to play for France was an important step as a player and as a person. Wearing that shirt is the highest point in a career and also for the child inside me, who had that dream since he was little. Deschamps also spoke to me about Juve, you can tell he had a great time in Turin.”
