In an interview with La Stampa (as quoted by IlBianconero) , former Juventus defender Danilo opened up about his enduring emotional connection to the club, his pride in former teammates, and his hopes for the next generation of Bianconeri. Here are his heartfelt words.
On Leaving Juventus: “Sometimes Things Happen in Life and It Goes as It Must”
Danilo began by addressing his departure from Juventus with a sense of acceptance and perspective:
“Sometimes things happen in life and it goes as it must…”
Juventus: “Talking About Juventus Always Moves Me”
Despite moving on, Danilo’s affection for Juventus remains strong:
“I watched the match against Al Ain and I was truly proud of the approach of my former teammates and how they played. For me, talking about Juventus always moves me, I will never stop saying it: Flamengo is my childhood love, Juventus is my grown-up love. Tudor is a very good coach, the guys are showing they can do great things, even at the World Cup.”
Locatelli: “I Was Proud of Him”
Danilo also spoke about his relationship with Manuel Locatelli, highlighting a special moment:
“I spoke to him right after the match against Venezia when he scored the decisive penalty, to tell him how proud I was of him. Bringing the team into the Champions League after everything that happened was not easy at all. But Juve has taken another direction and I hope it’s the best one—beautiful, winning—because Juve fans deserve it. I will always be a Juventino.”
Advice for Wesley: “He Is Ready for a Team Like Juve”
Looking to the future, Danilo offered advice regarding Wesley, a young talent:
“Wesley? I think he is ready even for a team like Juve. But then he would need time to settle in, that’s important.”
