After a summer spent balancing relaxation with intense training sessions—often shared with fans on social media—Tiago Djalò has returned to Turin, ready to attend Juventus’ preseason training camp. IlBianconero report that the Portuguese defender, fresh off a challenging loan spell at Porto, is back at the club but his future appears anything but secure. In Portugal, his playing time was limited, and, in recent weeks, he was excluded from the squad for disciplinary reasons.
Juventus Move: Beating Inter to the Punch
Djalò was signed by Juventus in January 2024, arriving from Lille just months before his contract with the French club was set to expire. Juventus acted swiftly to secure him ahead of competition from Inter Milan, who had also shown strong interest. The club viewed him as a promising investment, especially as he was on the comeback trail from a major knee injury. Despite the anticipation, his only official appearance in black and white came in the season’s final match against Roma, under caretaker coach Paolo Montero, and lasted just 16 minutes.
Loan to Porto and Exclusion from Future Plans
With Thiago Motta appointed as the new Juventus manager, Djalò was deemed surplus to requirements and sent on loan to Porto. Unfortunately, he failed to make a mark in Portugal as well, and has now returned to Turin. He is set to take part in preseason preparations on July 24, but under coach Igor Tudor, his prospects of regaining a spot in the squad look slim.
Contract Situation and Market Dilemmas
Djalò’s contract with Juventus runs until June 30, 2026, with an option to extend until 2028. However, given recent developments, it seems unlikely that Juventus will activate the extension. Currently, no concrete offers have been received for the defender, and he finds himself among the players Juventus is aiming to offload, alongside Arthur Melo and Facundo González.
