Vlahovic Still at Juventus: Between the Pitch and the Transfer Market

On the eve of Juventus’ Serie A debut, one of the biggest questions of the summer remains unanswered: the future of Dusan Vlahovic. Few would have predicted, back at the start of the extraordinary transfer session aimed at preparing for the Club World Cup, that by August 23 the Serbian striker would still be in Turin. Yet here he is, part of Igor Tudor’s squad and potentially ready to play a significant role in the season opener.

Juventus’ Position

Ilbianconero report how the 24-year-old remains a thorny case for the club. While he is not considered an undisputed starter anymore, he is far from being excluded from the team’s plans. Throughout the summer, Vlahovic stood firm against Juventus’ proposal to spread out his sizeable 12 million euro salary over a longer contract, and he has rejected the renewal on those terms. At the same time, concrete offers for him have not arrived.

Juventus remain open to a sale, even for a relatively modest fee compared to his past valuation, but they cannot afford to risk losing him for free when his contract expires next June.

The only real suitors at this stage are AC Milan. The Rossoneri are in the process of finalizing the transfer of Victor Boniface, but medical tests are taking longer than expected due to his history of fitness issues. If any surprise complications emerge, Milan could revisit the Vlahovic avenue as an alternative move.

In the meantime, the striker continues to train at Continassa and may even feature in Juventus’ opener against Parma, given that Jonathan David is currently the only fully reliable option for the central striker role.

Market Scenarios

If no transfer materializes before the deadline, Vlahovic could remain in Turin longer than anyone had anticipated. Juventus would then face the dual challenge of reintegrating him into the squad while continuing to evaluate future options. A late approach from another club looking for a forward cannot be ruled out entirely, though nothing concrete has emerged so far.
