Following the Champions League group stage draw in Nyon, Juventus general manager Damien Comolli spoke exclusively on Sky Sports (as quoted by ilbianconero) , sharing his thoughts on the Bianconeri’s upcoming European campaign and the latest developments in the transfer market, with just a few days left before the end of the summer window.
The Champions League Draw
Comolli described the draw as fascinating and full of challenges:
“Facing Bodo away will be very interesting, not only because of the climate but also the artificial pitch. I remember watching Tottenham struggle there in a semifinal, so it won’t be easy. Playing at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid is always special, a test against one of the world’s greatest clubs. Facing Monaco will be emotional for me personally, as my career began there both as a player and coach. And Portugal will also hold significance, as the Sporting Lisbon owner is a close friend of mine. Our goal? We are Juventus. We want to go as far as possible and aim to win.”
Savona to Nottingham Forest
On the transfer front, Comolli confirmed the departure of Savona:
“As you can imagine, the market continues even in Monte Carlo. We have just reached an agreement, and Savona will be joining Nottingham Forest. The deal is done. I’m not comfortable discussing players from other clubs because it’s disrespectful, but as Chiellini said, we will do everything possible to strengthen the squad. We’ll keep working until Monday night to improve the team.”
Vlahovic Staying in Turin
The focus then turned to star striker Dušan Vlahovic, whose future has been the subject of constant speculation:
“There is no friction between us. Vlahovic is part of the team and 99% he will stay with us for the whole season. Many rumors have circulated, but nothing concrete. He wants to remain at Juventus, which is very good news for us. We are lucky to have ownership that supports us, even though Financial Fair Play restrictions until 2027 force us to be cautious. Sometimes even a few million make the difference, so we must act carefully. As for Kolo Muani, if there’s news, we will let you know. If opportunities arise to improve the squad, we’ll consider them.”
