Nedved: “You Must Always Give 100% to Survive at Juventus — Inter Are Still Ahead of Everyone”

Pavel Nedved spoke to Sky Sport (as quoted by Calciomercato) ahead of the Europa League clash between Roma and Viktoria Plzen. Now the technical director of the Czech national teams, the former Juventus star and Ballon d’Or winner discussed Serie A, his former club, and his connection to Roma.

On the Italian league, Nedved praised the growing competitiveness while identifying one clear leader.

“The league seems very balanced to me; the level of the teams has risen, but I still see Inter ahead of everyone,” he said.

Turning his attention to Juventus, the Czech legend highlighted both the challenges and potential of Igor Tudor’s side.

“I think the match against Real Madrid showed a reaction of pride. I know how difficult it is to play for these colours and approach every match at that level. You have to be at 100% all the time, otherwise you’ve got no chance to survive in this team. They need time to build a strong group and become the true Juve again.”

Reflecting on his roots and the occasion in Rome, Nedved said he still feels a special bond with both the city and Czech football.

“I started at Plzen when I was 14. It was a pleasure to accompany the boys here to Rome. It’s a good team for the Czech league, though the Europa League will be another test. I’ve got great respect for Roma fans. The derby? It was wonderful to play here — those were the toughest matches of my football life.”

Finally, Nedved praised Italian football talent and shared a hopeful view of the international stage.

“Italy at the World Cup? I hope so, as before — but we’ll be in the play-offs, so I’d rather not face them. Gasperini plays fantastic, attacking football. You’re lucky in Rome to have a coach like him; I consider him one of the best in the world.”
