Chiellini: Spalletti the Right Man to Begin a New Era – Full Quotes on Juventus Future and Vlahovic

Juventus’ Director of Football Strategy Giorgio Chiellini recently spoke about the club’s recent coaching change and future direction, emphasising the respect for former coach Igor Tudor and optimism about Luciano Spalletti’s potential appointment.

Chiellini said (as quoted by ilbianconero) , “I think that Tudor should be thanked for having done important work, as last season he took us into the Champions League.” He added, “This was a decision shared within the club. We think that the team can do well.” About the coaching transition, Chiellini noted, “I think Spalletti is a great coach, with experience and a modern style of football. We have to wait, because there is no signature yet, so let us focus on trying to pick up points today.”

He also expressed gratitude to Massimo Brambilla, who was serving as caretaker manager at the time, saying, “I also wish to thank Brambilla, who is allowing us to go into this game with focus and look to the future.”

Chiellini characterized the season as a rebuilding phase: “It was a tough decision, because it is not in the DNA of Juventus to make a change so early, and there is disappointment considering how much the coach cares about this club. It will be a transitional year, because we are laying the foundations for a Juve that can get back to winning ways. There are 30 games to go in Serie A and everything is still up for grabs, so I think we can begin a new era.”

Regarding the club’s internal changes, Chiellini confirmed structural moves: “There will be a new director of sport in the next few weeks, because we are lacking that figure.”

On the future and key player Dušan Vlahović, Chiellini said, “We will talk with Vlahović about the future. His motivation and intent have been clear since the start of the season, and we want this to be a season of rebuilding, not just for immediate results but as the foundation for sustained success.”

He also reflected on the squad’s present challenges, “We are building something. The group is growing and overcoming difficulties, embracing values that will be useful in the future to get back to winning as soon as possible, which is everyone’s goal.”

Summing up the ambition, he stated, “We knew it wouldn’t be easy, but we chose this path because we think we can do well in the coming years and right from the start. There are 30 games left, everything is still to play for.”
