Dusan Vlahovic spoke to Sky Sport Italia (as quoted by Calciomercato) after Juventus’s Champions League match against Sporting Lisbon, reflecting on both the team’s performance and his own physical condition.
“We’re not happy with the result; we could have done more,” the striker admitted. “We played a tough match, performing better than them – they’re a good team that moves the ball well. We responded well but missed the second goal. I can only compliment my teammates and the coach. We hope to keep going like this, but winning. Our focus is on winning the next four games.”
Turning to his contract situation, Vlahovic was clear that his priorities are on the immediate future. “We’ve talked, but I’m focused on the present. My only thoughts are on Saturday’s match – the derby means a lot and it won’t be easy.”
The Serbian forward also shed light on the moment he was substituted. “I felt some discomfort in my flexor muscle and asked to come off; I don’t know if the coach was already planning to take me off or not. I’m sorry I couldn’t finish the match. I still need a bit to be fully ready for 90 minutes, but I’m giving 100%. I regret not being able to help the team until the end. I hope Saturday will be different.”
Finally, Vlahovic addressed a heated on-field moment with Weston McKennie. “I realised straight away, I think it was McKennie. I know it wasn’t a nice gesture, but he knows I didn’t mean it that way.”
