Juventus Keep Close Eye on Maignan’s Situation as Milan Contract Nears End

Juventus continue to keep a close watch on players whose contracts are approaching expiry, carefully studying opportunities to secure new free transfers, as they successfully did in the summer with Jonathan David.

Among the names under close observation from the Juventus management is Mike Maignan. The Milan goalkeeper’s contract with the Rossoneri is due to expire in seven months, and talks over a renewal have stalled. At present, there seems to be little room for progress in negotiations between the Frenchman and his current club.

A Top-Profile Target

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport (as quoted by IlBianconero), Juventus regard Maignan as a high-level profile. At 30 years of age, the French international is seen not only as a talented shot-stopper but also as someone with the experience and maturity to become a leading figure at a major club.

For this reason, should the opportunity arise, Juventus are expected to be ready with clear arguments to try and secure Maignan’s approval and bring him to Turin.

Premier League Temptation

However, Maignan is reportedly also fascinated by the prospect of playing in the Premier League. Chelsea are believed to be considering a serious move in the summer to take the Milan keeper to Stamford Bridge.

Although the Blues have not yet reached an agreement with Maignan, they appear to be in a favourable position compared to other suitors. Nevertheless, the situation remains open and far from settled.

The French Connection in Turin

One factor that could help Juventus in a potential approach is their growing French presence. The club already boasts several French figures both on and off the pitch, including Comolli, Modesto, Kalulu, and Thuram — a small French contingent that could make Maignan’s integration smoother and more appealing.

The presence of compatriots in Turin might therefore play a meaningful role in persuading the national team goalkeeper to consider a move to Serie A’s most successful club.

Financial Considerations

Maignan currently earns around €3 million per season at Milan and is likely to seek a significant pay rise with his next contract. Juventus, while weighing up a possible move for the Rossoneri’s number one, must take this financial factor into account if they decide to make their interest concrete.
