Juventus Shut Down Talk of Thuram–Frattesi Swap with Inter

With the January transfer window fast approaching, speculation has surfaced regarding a potential swap deal between Juventus and Inter involving Khephren Thuram and Davide Frattesi — two midfielders admired by both clubs for their dynamism and versatility.

Juventus Still Keen on Frattesi

Juventus have long been admirers of Davide Frattesi, having followed the Italian midfielder closely during his time at Sassuolo, well before his eventual move to Inter. The 25-year-old has struggled to find regular minutes this season, and a January exit cannot be ruled out if the situation fails to improve.

Luciano Spalletti is a known fan of Frattesi from his time as Italy’s head coach, and would welcome a player of his profile into the squad. Inter value him at around €35 million — a figure Juventus could potentially manage through a paid loan arrangement with a future obligation to buy, should the right conditions be met.

Inter’s Proposal: Bring the Thuram Brothers Together

Inter, meanwhile, are open to letting Frattesi go but are unwilling to sell below value. The club’s idea would be to propose a direct swap, with Khephren Thuram moving the other way — a move that would reunite him with his brother Marcus at San Siro.

The Nerazzurri have long sought a physically strong central midfielder, and Thuram perfectly fits that profile. During the summer, Inter explored similar options, including a potential deal for Koné, but were unable to finalise it.

Juventus’ Stance: A Firm Rejection

Any such idea, however, is unlikely to gain traction in Turin. Juventus would reject a player-swap proposal outright. Despite some inconsistency in recent months, Thuram is still considered a key part of Spalletti’s project and an important investment for the club’s future.

Furthermore, Juventus sporting director Damien Comolli rates the French midfielder higher than Frattesi in both technical value and long-term potential, leaving no room for equal terms in negotiation.

The message from Turin is clear: Khephren Thuram is not for sale — not even to reunite the Thuram brothers on opposite sides of Italy’s fiercest rivalry.
