Tonali

Tonali Remains a Juventus Target as Comolli’s Long-Term Favourite

Start

Sandro Tonali continues to attract strong interest from Juventus, despite the evident difficulties of negotiating for the Newcastle United midfielder. Those at Continassa remain firmly convinced by the former Milan player’s qualities and view him as an ideal fit for Luciano Spalletti’s project.

There are two certainties within Juventus when it comes to the transfer market. Firstly, the club’s priority is to reinforce the midfield — a position that the board intends to strengthen as early as January. Secondly, Tonali sits at the very top of their shortlist, with full agreement across all levels of management in Turin.

Tonali, a Shared Admiration

Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed that Tonali is a long-standing favourite for both Spalletti and Juventus’ new CEO, Laurent Comolli. Last summer, Comolli even explored the possibility of bringing the Italian international to Turin, though the financial and contractual conditions made such a move impossible at the time.

Newcastle Standing Firm

Any club interested in Tonali faces a significant obstacle in the form of Newcastle’s firm stance. The Premier League side have no intention of letting the 25-year-old leave in the short term. Reports linking a potential swap deal involving Jonathan David have been dismissed, but Juventus still view Tonali as an ideal long-term target — a player who perfectly fits their future plans.

January Unlikely, Summer More Viable

A January move is seen as highly improbable, given Newcastle’s reluctance to open talks mid-season. Juventus’ focus in the upcoming transfer window will therefore shift towards other midfield reinforcements. However, the situation could change in the summer, when the Bianconeri are expected to make a renewed push for Tonali — the player many inside the club continue to describe as their top priority and dream signing for the future.
