Cristiano Giuntoli: “I Didn’t Have Time at Juventus – But Maybe I Wasn’t Wrong About the Market”

Cristiano Giuntoli, still without a club after parting ways with Juventus in June 2025, has broken his silence — if only slightly. The former sporting director has yet to give formal interviews, but he has shared a few candid reflections in conversation with journalist Ivan Zazzaroni, who relayed them in the Corriere dello Sport.

There is a sense of unfinished business in Giuntoli’s tone, a man who feels his work was cut short before it could be properly judged. “I didn’t have time to work. Only one year, and I paid the price for Bremer’s injury,” he said, adding with quiet pride, “My players are all starters now. I’m not looking for polemics.”

“Maybe I Wasn’t Wrong About the Market”

Giuntoli couldn’t resist pointing to decisions once doubted but now vindicated by events. “From Huijsen, who was criticised, to Kolo Muani… Nico González is doing very well at Atlético. Maybe I wasn’t wrong,” he remarked pointedly. “You could talk about all those I sold.”

There’s also a hint of satisfaction in recalling one deal that might have slipped through Juventus’ fingers. Speaking of Alberto Costa, Giuntoli revealed: “You know City wanted him?”

“I Put the Accounts in Order”

Giuntoli also made a point to underline the scale of the financial turnaround he oversaw during his brief spell in Turin. “I had put the accounts in order. When I arrived, they were losing 300 million; now they’re at minus 58,” he noted, a statistic that seemed to please him as much as any player signing.

His final reflection sounded part defence, part reminder of his legacy. “The average age went from 30 to 25. You’d have enough arguments to clean up my name a little,” he said, with what reads as both a challenge and a lament.
