Serie A | Juventus v Cremonese: Match Preview

Start

Juventus will aim to maintain their recent momentum when they host Cremonese at the Allianz Stadium on Monday evening, as Luciano Spalletti’s side continue their pursuit of the Serie A front-runners.

The Bianconeri are quietly building consistency again in what has been a season of steady reconstruction, while Cremonese arrive in Turin hoping to recover from a frustrating run of missed opportunities.

Juventus Looking Up the Table

After a brief setback against Lecce, Juventus produced a dominant response last time out with a 3-0 win away to Sassuolo. Goals from Kenan Yildiz and Jonathan David — the latter finally breaking his league scoring drought — underlined the team’s renewed attacking sharpness.

Under Luciano Spalletti, Juve have been one of Serie A’s most reliable sides defensively, conceding just 10 goals in 11 matches, the sixth-best record in the division. With five league wins and four draws so far, they sit sixth in the table on 19 points, only five behind leaders Inter Milan in an increasingly tight title race.

Beyond the hunt for trophies, Spalletti’s task has centred on revitalising a squad that is beginning to blend tactical discipline with expressive forward play. His side are unbeaten in their last 13 home matches in Serie A and have a flawless record against Cremonese in Turin — winning all previous eight meetings by an aggregate score of 23–3.

Monday night, therefore, offers another opportunity to strengthen their grip on a top-four spot while keeping the frontrunners within striking distance.

Cremonese Seeking Stability

For Cremonese, it has been a season of mixed fortunes. Davide Nicola’s side have adapted admirably to life back in the top flight, sitting just below mid-table with 14 points from 11 matches. However, recent weeks have exposed vulnerabilities, particularly in closing out games.

The Grigiorossi’s defensive organisation has kept them competitive, but lapses in concentration have cost them dearly — most recently in the 2-2 draw with Cagliari, when they surrendered a two-goal first-half advantage. Before that, defeats to Napoli, Torino and Fiorentina left them with only two points from their last five outings.

Cremonese have shown resilience on the road, earning eight away points so far, but scoring remains an issue: they’ve failed to find the net in their last three away games. Against a Juventus team boasting one of Serie A’s stingiest defences, that’s a statistic Nicola will be desperate to change.

Team News

There’s good news for Juventus, as Lloyd Kelly has returned to full training and could make the matchday squad. The English defender may even start alongside Gleison Bremer in central defence if Spalletti opts to push Teun Koopmeiners further forward into midfield.

Francisco Conceição remains the main doubt for the Bianconeri after continued individual recovery work. Daniele Rugani, Federico Gatti and Dušan Vlahović are still unavailable, though Jonathan David is expected to lead the line once again, eager to score in consecutive matches for the first time in his Juventus career.

For Cremonese, Michele Collocolo is ruled out through injury, while Jeremy Sarmiento’s loan may soon be cut short following a lack of impact. Jamie Vardy — their leading scorer — is set to start up front alongside Federico Bonazzoli, with Dennis Johnsen pushing for inclusion after scoring against Cagliari. Nicola could opt for a more compact midfield setup to guard against Juventus’s technical control in transition.

Probable Starting XI’s

Juventus v Cremonese

Juventus (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Bremer, Koopmeiners; McKennie, Locatelli, Thuram, Cambiaso; Miretti, Yildiz; David

Cremonse (3-5-2): Audero; Terracciano, Baschirotto, Bianchetti; Zerbin, Payero, Grassi, Vandeputte, Pezzella; Bonazzoli, Vardy

Prediction

Cremonese have struggled for both goals and consistency in recent weeks, while Juventus are beginning to find rhythm under Spalletti’s intelligent management. The Bianconeri’s home record and defensive solidity give them a clear edge, and with Yildiz and David rediscovering their form, another comfortable win seems likely.
