Juventus v Benfica

Champions League | Juventus 2-0 Benfica: Player Ratings

Goals from Khephren Thuram and Weston McKennie helped Juventus earn a massive 2-0 win over Benfica in their quest for Champions League qualification.

Juventus

Di Gegorio: Tested early on but it was an easy claim. Made a superb stop to deny Benfica what looked a certain goal. Quickly off his line at other times and was called into action way too many times due to defensive mistakes. 7.0/10

Kalulu: Made some poor mistakes but looked much better in the second half. 6.5/10

Bremer: Seemed to struggle a bit with the pace of the game at times, but solid overall until conceding an unfortunate penalty. 6.0/10

Kelly: Another excellent game including a clearance that kept the score at 0-0. 6.5/10

Cambiaso: Really off the pace, made a mistake or two and didn’t make much of an impact in the opening half. 5.5/10

Thuram: Had at least two very decent headed chances to put Juventus in front. Finally did what Spalletti has been asking of him, putting Juve ahead with a neat finish, driving into the opposition box 7.0/10

⭐ Locatelli: Started brightly but was lucky not to pick up an early booking. Even on a yellow card, he was strong in the tackle and put in a huge performance to help Juventus over the line. 7.0/10

Mckennie: A little ineffectual in the opening half and switched to the middle in the second ‘45 and came to life, scoring Juve’s second goal with a lovely finish. 7.0/10

Miretti: Almost gifted Benfica an opening goal and then missed a decent headed effort. 5.0/10

Yildiz: Drifted from left to right and put in decent crosses. Forced a decent save from the keeper despite being tripped up by his own teammate in the buildup 6.0/10

David: Very quiet opening half. Was presented with a very promising opportunity to head Juve into the lead but completely fluffed his lines. Played his part in the opening goal and then provided the assist dot the second.  6.5/10

Spalletti: A game of two halves for the Mister. Saw his mistakes and rectified them as soon as he could. Got his substitutions right. Job done 👍 7.0/10
