Maldini

Juventus Eye Daniel Maldini as Potential Yildiz Backup

Juventus continue to explore options to strengthen their attacking department, and one name increasingly gaining traction in Turin is Daniel Maldini. The forward, currently at Atalanta, has emerged as a serious candidate to serve as a rotation option for young star Kenan Yildiz.

While efforts remain focused on signing Jean-Philippe Mateta from Crystal Palace, IlBianconero report that Juventus are also looking beyond the striker position. The club’s management want to ensure Luciano Spalletti has depth in the attacking midfield areas, particularly someone who can share the creative load with Yildiz.

Initially, Federico Chiesa had been considered the leading candidate for this role, but in recent days that idea has cooled for both technical and financial reasons. In contrast, Maldini’s profile has grown within the club’s discussions.

Maldini Rising, Chiesa Fading

Summing up the current situation: Chiesa’s return to Turin is drifting away, while Maldini’s chances are rising. Juventus see in Maldini a versatile attacking option — creative, tactically intelligent, and motivated to prove himself at a top club. The 23-year-old is said to be enthusiastic about the prospect of joining Juventus, viewing the move as a big step in his career.

Atalanta’s Asking Price

Negotiations, however, will not be straightforward. Atalanta are open to letting Maldini leave but on their own terms. With several players competing for attacking roles, the Bergamo club are ready to sell but are demanding no less than €10 million for a permanent transfer. The deal, they insist, must be a straightforward sale rather than a temporary move.

Juventus’ Proposal

Juventus, meanwhile, prefer to proceed with a loan that includes a purchase option which could become an obligation based on performance-related conditions, such as appearances made. The Bianconeri see this structure as financially prudent and compatible with their current strategy of flexible investments.

Atalanta have yet to approve such terms, but fresh talks between the two clubs are expected soon. Juventus hope to bridge the gap and bring Maldini to Turin before the January window closes, adding both depth and creativity to Spalletti’s evolving squad.
