Thuram

“At Juventus, you always have to win”: Thuram on his goal, Spalletti’s words, and Juve’s mindset

Khephren Thuram returned to the scoresheet on a crucial Champions League night, opening the way for Juventus’ victory over Benfica and helping secure qualification for the play-offs. The French midfielder, who was also named Man of the Match, shared his thoughts after the win.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia  after the game, Thuram reflected on the challenge of facing a technically gifted side. “We suffered against a team like Benfica, who have very strong players technically,” he admitted. “The goal came at the right time, and I’m happy with the result.”

Looking ahead to Juve’s upcoming fixtures, the midfielder underlined the mentality required when wearing the black and white shirt. “It’s always nice to win — it’s easier when you’re winning — but we know we’re facing a great team this weekend. At Juventus, you always have to win,” Thuram said with a smile.

The Frenchman also revealed what manager Luciano Spalletti told the squad at half-time. “He didn’t say anything special — he just told us to stay focused, to try to lose fewer balls, and to be cleaner technically. He gave us confidence during the break,” Thuram explained.

Finally, when asked who messages him first after a game, Thuram replied warmly: “My brother. My dad is at the stadium.”
