Champions League | Monaco v Juventus: Probable starting lineups

The league can wait—tonight, Juventus face a crucial European test. On Wednesday, 28 January, the Bianconeri travel to Monaco for the final round of the Champions League single-league stage, determined to secure a direct place among the top eight and avoid the playoff round.

Luciano Spalletti’s side approach the fixture high on confidence after their home victory over José Mourinho’s Benfica, a result that lifted them to 12 points and kept qualification hopes alive. That win, followed by a dominant 3–0 triumph over Napoli in Serie A, has reignited belief within the camp and among supporters.

Monaco Struggling for Form

Their opponents, however, are enduring a difficult spell. Monaco come into this clash after a heavy 6–1 defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu and a run of four losses and one draw across league and European matches. Manager Pocognoli’s side, currently on nine points, will nonetheless aim to restore pride at home, despite several key absences—including that of former Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

A European Night to Decide Juventus’ Fate

For Juventus, the stakes could hardly be higher. Qualification may also depend on results elsewhere, adding further tension to the evening. The fixture marks the beginning of a busy schedule: after Monaco, Juve visit Parma on 1 February in Serie A before facing Atalanta away in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

Kick-off at the Stade Louis II is at 21:00 local time. Spanish referee Sánchez will oversee proceedings, with Soto Grado on VAR duty.
