Koopmeiners: “I’m very happy at Juventus – it’s every player’s dream”

On the eve of Juventus’ decisive Champions League clash against Monaco, Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners spoke to the media from the press room at Stade Louis II. Calm, focused, and full of determination, the Bianconeri vice-captain discussed his current form, his relationship with manager Luciano Spalletti, and his deep sense of belonging at the club.

“We want to push together”

Koopmeiners began by underlining the importance of Wednesday’s match for both morale and momentum. “I feel good, and I want to push with all of my teammates tomorrow,” he said. “It’s a very important match for us — for the points and for our confidence. We’ll see if we finish in the top eight or go through the playoffs.”

Already assured of qualification for the next phase, Juventus still have a slim chance of progressing directly to the round of 16, provided they win in Monaco and other results fall their way. Koopmeiners’ words reflected a squad determined to end the league phase positively, regardless of the scenario.

“I’m happy with my role”

Discussing his position on the pitch and the tactical flexibility Spalletti expects from him, Koopmeiners expressed total openness to the manager’s ideas. “I have to say I feel good and relaxed,” he explained. “I’ve played a lot under this coach — maybe a bit less in the last few matches — but I’m happy with my role. I’ve spoken a lot with the manager about it.”

The Dutch international added that he is always ready to adapt when called upon. “I played as a central defender in the Netherlands as well, so it’s important for me to help the team tomorrow. Every training session and every match is an opportunity to show the coach that I can help the squad. That goes for every player.”

“Juventus never told me to leave”

When asked about his future, Koopmeiners was emphatic in his commitment to the Turin club. “I’m very happy at Juventus,” he said. “I never thought about leaving, and the club never told me I had to go. I’m too happy here — it’s every player’s dream to be at Juventus, and I want to do even more.”

He also stressed his dedication and professionalism on a daily basis. “I can honestly say that every day I give 100% to help the team. I only think about Juventus,” he said, before smiling and adding: “Goals? The first objective is always that Juventus win.”
