Juventus are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Argentine striker Mauro Icardi, whose contract with Galatasaray expires at the end of the season. The initial report came from Italian journalist Luca Momblano, who revealed that the Turin club has shown interest in bringing the forward back to Serie A. Coincidentally, Galatasaray will face Juventus in the upcoming Champions League playoff, adding intrigue to the situation.
Icardi’s Season So Far
The former Inter Milan striker, previously coached by Luciano Spalletti and still maintaining a good relationship with him, has seen limited playing time with the Turkish champions this season. So far, he has played 1,364 minutes across 29 appearances, scoring ten goals and providing two assists. Despite solid numbers, Icardi’s role in the squad has been less prominent than in past seasons.
Any potential deal, however, would be complicated by the short timeframe remaining in the winter transfer window, making it one to watch closely in the coming hours.
The Alternative to Kolo Muani
Icardi is viewed as a backup option to Randal Kolo Muani, another forward Juventus have been tracking. Tottenham, however, appear reluctant to let the French striker go during this transfer window, even though Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly open to arranging another loan move. Kolo Muani remains in Tottenham’s matchday squad for today’s clash against Manchester City, a game that could influence any final transfer decisions.
