Spalletti Set for New Deal: One Year to Build a Winning Juventus

Luciano Spalletti is edging closer to signing a new contract with Juventus, with the club and coach moving towards an agreement that would keep him in Turin until 2027, with an option for a further year to 2028. Tuttosport report that the idea is to bind the project to a relatively short time frame, giving Spalletti the freedom not to be tied down too long, while still ensuring he has the influence and authority to shape the squad immediately. His priority is clear: to be central to all key decisions regarding the team for next season, starting with the incoming free agents the club is preparing to accelerate on.

A Coach Who Has Convinced the Dressing Room

The final green light now seems a formality after weeks of talks in which club and coach have found common ground on every key point, at least verbally. The players themselves have played an important role in this process: the most influential members of the squad were sounded out on Spalletti and their feedback helped consolidate the club’s stance. If at the end of October not everyone in the dressing room was fully convinced by his arrival—with some preferring other profiles, such as Raffaele Palladino—today that hesitation has disappeared. Spalletti is now seen as modern both in terms of his playing philosophy and the positive atmosphere he has managed to create within the group.

Harmony at Juventus and Spalletti’s Demands

There is a sense of harmony and shared purpose at Juventus that has not always been present in recent years. The squad works hard during the week but also enjoys its football, and the internal divisions that once fractured the dressing room now feel distant. Spalletti is content in Turin: he is not waiting for offers from elsewhere, nor does he feel the need to see first whether the team will secure a top-four finish before committing. At the same time, he does not want the club to be tied to him for too long on paper, but he does demand that, for the duration of the new deal, he is at the heart of every footballing decision, especially if Juventus return to the Champions League.

Belief in a Winning Project

The Tuscan coach is convinced this Juventus squad has huge potential, particularly if reinforced with five or six quality additions in key areas. His ambition is straightforward: to lead a team capable of winning straight away, at least domestically, under his guidance rather than focusing on a long-term horizon. At Continassa, there is now little doubt about the direction of travel; all that is missing is the official announcement of his renewal, which is increasingly seen as only a matter of time.
