Juventus Move to Tie Down Pierre Kalulu with New Contract

Juventus have opened negotiations over a contract extension for Pierre Kalulu, with the club making clear that the 25-year-old is the one defender they have no intention of selling. According to journalist Romeo Agresti, talks are under way to extend his current deal beyond its 2029 expiry and significantly increase his wages.

From Loan to Indispensable

Kalulu arrived at Juventus in August 2024 on an initial loan from AC Milan, costing €3.3 million for the temporary spell, with an option to purchase permanently for €14 million — plus up to €3 million in performance-related bonuses. Last summer, Juventus exercised that option without hesitation. His salary, however, remained unchanged at €2.4 million per year — a figure that now looks increasingly difficult to justify.

In 2025/26, Kalulu was Juventus’s most-used outfield player, making 49 appearances and logging 4,381 minutes on the pitch at a consistently high level. His versatility, reliability, and quality relative to his age have made him a firm favourite of both the coaching staff and the board.

The Renewal Terms — and Why It’s Urgent

Juventus are ready to extend Kalulu’s contract to 2030 and raise his salary to €3.5 million per season — a significant but entirely warranted increase. The motivation is twofold: to reward his performances and to ward off interest from Premier League clubs, with Chelsea and Manchester United both understood to be admirers.

While Juventus are open to discussing the futures of Gleison Bremer, Federico Gatti, and Lloyd Kelly, Kalulu is emphatically not for sale. Locking him down on improved terms this summer is a priority — and one the club are moving on quickly.
