Mohamed Salah to Juventus? Spalletti Keeps the Dream Alive as Egyptian Star Weighs His Options

It is, by most measures, a wildly ambitious idea. Juventus are operating under severe financial constraints, they are not in the Champions League, and the player in question commands a salary north of €12 million per year. And yet, according to La Stampa, the possibility of Mohamed Salah joining Juventus this summer has not been entirely set aside — and it is Luciano Spalletti himself who is keeping the flame alive.

The Origins of the Dream

The idea was born when Champions League qualification still appeared achievable. Spalletti, planning for a summer of major investment, turned his attention to several senior Liverpool players whose futures were uncertain. Alisson Becker and Andrew Robertson both came and went from the conversation relatively quickly. Salah, however, has remained a persistent thread — a name that has proved impossible to fully dismiss.

The change in leadership at the top of the club, with Giovanni Carnevali replacing Damien Comolli, has not extinguished that ambition.

Why There Is Still a Sliver of Hope

The key factor keeping the idea alive is that Salah himself has not yet made a decision on his next move. After confirming his departure from Liverpool following the conclusion of his contract, the Egyptian forward is understood to be taking his time, evaluating all available options before committing.

Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe have already made concrete proposals, with both Turkish clubs in a position to match or come close to his Premier League salary of over €12 million per year. Despite that, Salah is not yet ready to move outside the elite European leagues. He wants to understand whether a genuinely competitive project still exists for him at the top level before making a decision.

The Spalletti Factor

Central to Juventus’s residual hope is the bond between Salah and Spalletti, forged during their time together at Roma. The two developed a strong professional and personal relationship, with Salah crediting the Italian manager as the most influential coach of his career: “Luciano is the best manager I have ever had. With him I improved enormously, both tactically and mentally. He gave me the opportunity to express my talent.” Those words, spoken publicly, reflect a connection that has endured long beyond their time working together.

The Enormous Obstacles

Transforming this dream into reality would require a near-perfect set of financial conditions to align simultaneously. Juventus would need to significantly reduce their wage bill, complete several high-value player sales, and find a way to bridge the vast gap between what they can currently offer and what Salah commands. There are no advanced negotiations, and there is no concrete offer on the table. The club are monitoring the situation — and for now, that is all they can responsibly do.

It is, as things stand, a fantasy. But in a summer full of unexpected twists — a new chief executive, a potential Vlahović revival, Drăgușin coming home — stranger things have already happened at the Allianz Stadium.
