Juventus and Bologna in Active Contact Over Lucumí and Miretti Double Deal

The relationship between Juventus and Bologna is one of the most active in Italian football this summer, with the two clubs in regular contact over a double deal that could see Fabio Miretti head to the Dall’Ara whilst Jhon Lucumí makes the journey in the opposite direction to Turin.

Why Lucumí Is Now Available — and Why Bologna Were Not Ready Before

The timing of Juventus’s renewed push for Lucumí is no accident. The Colombian centre-back was on the club’s radar as far back as last summer, but Bologna flatly refused to entertain the idea of losing one of their most important players in the middle of a campaign. The situation has changed significantly. With the season concluded and Lucumí’s contract running only until June 2027, the Emilian club now recognise that the time to sell has arrived — holding firm would risk losing him for nothing in twelve months’ time.

Juventus are not alone in their pursuit. Roma retain a concrete interest, and several clubs from abroad have also registered their attention. The Colombian international’s strong start to the World Cup with his national side has, if anything, sharpened the competition rather than calmed it. Carnevali and his team know they must move with purpose.

Miretti: The Makeweight That Could Make Everything Work

The structural elegance of the deal being discussed lies in the Miretti component. By including the 23-year-old midfielder — who is no longer part of Spalletti’s plans and for whom Juventus are seeking around €15 million — Juventus can bridge the gap between their opening cash offer and Bologna’s expectations, whilst simultaneously clearing a surplus player and generating a modest capital gain.

Bologna’s interest in Miretti is genuine. The midfielder fits their playing style and age profile, and his acquisition would strengthen an area of the squad that requires attention following a summer of significant change. The outstanding question is whether Bologna will agree to a permanent transfer for Miretti — their preference for a loan arrangement remains a sticking point, but with the Lucumí deal providing additional leverage, Carnevali is confident a resolution can be found.

The Window Opens in Days — and Urgency Is Growing

With the official transfer window opening on 1 July, both clubs are working to reach an agreement that satisfies their respective needs before Lucumí’s World Cup heroics drive up his market value still further. For Juventus, the logic is clear: a combined deal that brings in a defensive cornerstone, clears a surplus midfielder, and strengthens a long-standing club relationship in the process. The pieces are in place. The conversations are ongoing. The moment to close is now.
