Francisco Conceição Could Leave Juventus for Manchester United — with Zirkzee Going the Other Way

Jorge Mendes Activates a Creative Swap That Would Simultaneously Solve Problems at Both Clubs

Juventus’s summer window has just produced its most unexpected subplot yet. As the club finalises the double signing of Randal Kolo Muani and Kerim Alajbegovic — a combined investment exceeding €90 million — the financial consequences of that ambition are already making themselves felt. One of the most significant exits now being discussed involves Francisco Conceição, and Manchester United are the unexpected suitors.

The Mendes Connection — A Deal Designed to Help Both Clubs

Jorge Mendes, the super-agent who represents both Conceição and several key figures at Manchester United, has begun exploring the viability of a deal that would send the Portuguese winger to Old Trafford. The creative element that makes the operation genuinely interesting — and potentially mutually beneficial — is the involvement of Joshua Zirkzee moving in the opposite direction, completing what would in effect be a swap between the two clubs.

The logic is compelling from both perspectives. Manchester United need a dynamic, explosive wide forward with direct running qualities — precisely the profile Conceição embodies at his best. Juventus, for their part, have been pursuing Zirkzee all summer as an intelligent, technically sophisticated attacking alternative who can operate both as a centre-forward and behind the striker in the number ten zone.

Why Conceição’s Sale Is Now a Possibility

When Kolo Muani and Alajbegovic are both confirmed — as they are expected to be within hours — the attacking department at the Continassa will contain Kolo Muani, Alajbegovic, Yıldız, Boga, Conceição, and the rehabilitating Ekhator. That is a very crowded group, and Carnevali has been explicit that sales must follow the incoming business. Jonathan David’s departure remains the priority exit, but Conceição — valued at approximately €45 million given his age, form, and Portugal international status — represents a significant commercial asset that could help balance the books in a meaningful way.

The timing matters too. Carnevali confirmed publicly last night that the club will focus on outgoings from next week onwards. Conceição’s sale, should it materialise, would generate one of the largest capital gains available to the club this summer.

A Decision Spalletti Will Not Take Lightly

The sporting cost, however, is real. Conceição has been one of the more consistent performers in the Juventus squad, and Spalletti regards him as a genuine asset — not a surplus player. Any departure would need to be accompanied by the arrival of a player of comparable or superior quality in his position. Zirkzee, who would fill a different role but add technical depth, could represent that compensating factor. Whether the positions, the wages, and the valuations can be aligned in a deal that satisfies both clubs’ respective needs remains the outstanding question. But with Jorge Mendes at the wheel and the financial incentives on both sides, this is a story that is only just beginning.
