Juventus arrive in Frosinone looking to put a disappointing end to last season behind them.
Match Preview
A poor run in the final five games of 2025-26 cost the Bianconeri a Champions League spot, as a draw with rivals Torino on the last day dropped them out of the top four and into the Europa League instead.
Despite that late collapse, interim boss Luciano Spalletti kept his job, and pre-season results gave some reason for optimism. After a scoreless draw with Basel, Juve strung together wins over Standard Liege, Nice and Chelsea, added another against Palermo, and suffered their only defeat against rivals Inter Milan.
Off the pitch, the club has been reshaping the squad and trimming the wage bill. Dusan Vlahovic’s exit was the headline departure, while Bosnian midfielder Kerim Alajbegovic arrived as the marquee signing. Juventus have a strong habit of starting seasons well too — they’ve won all but two of their last 15 league openers, with clean sheets in six of the last seven.
Frosinone, on the other hand, are still searching for their first points of a new top-flight campaign after three straight defeats. History isn’t on their side against Juventus either, having lost five of their last six meetings in Serie A and conceded at least twice in every one of those losses.
The Canarini returned to Serie A last season after finishing just one point behind Serie B champions Venezia, a big turnaround from a 15th-place finish the year before. Coach Massimiliano Alvini was particularly strong at home, winning 12 of 19 matches at the Stirpe, and his side led the division for set-piece goals with 29, including 14 from corners.
Having been relegated immediately after their previous promotion in 2023, Frosinone are determined not to repeat that fate, bringing in Austrian internationals Florian Grillitsch and Romano Schmid among a wave of new arrivals. After a pre-season defeat to local rivals Lazio, they’ve had better luck in the Coppa Italia, thrashing Juve Stabia 4-1 to set up a second-round trip to Sassuolo.
Team News
Juventus will be without Dusan Vlahovic following his release, leaving Arkadiusz Milik, Jonathan David and Randal Kolo Muani to compete for the central striker’s role. Spalletti has strengthened his attacking options by re-signing Kolo Muani and adding Alajbegovic, while right-back Zeki Celik joined from Roma. New arrival Jeff Ekhator, signed from Genoa, is battling a thigh injury and is unlikely to feature, and Federico Gatti is also touch-and-go. After defensive frailties last season, Guglielmo Vicario takes over in goal from Michele Di Gregorio.
For Frosinone, Kenan Yildiz’s ten Serie A goals for Juventus last term were bettered domestically by Fares Ghedjemis’s 15 in Serie B, while midfielder Giacomo Calo racked up a division-high 25 goal involvements. With survival the priority this season, the club has added Schmid, Patrizio Masini and several others who could feature this weekend. Grillitsch and Terzic missed last week’s Coppa Italia win, where Giorgi Kvernadze scored twice, but Seydou Fini returns from suspension.
Probable Starting XI’s

Frosinone (4-2-3-1):Palmisani; Oyono, Calvani, Monterisi, Bracaglia; Masini, Calo; Ghedjemis, Schmid, Kvernadze; Raimondo
Juventus (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Kalulu, Bremer, Kelly, Cambiaso; Locatelli, Luiz; Conceicao, McKennie, Yildiz; Kolo Muani
Prediction
Juventus took a step forward under Spalletti last season but let too many points slip late on. Against newly promoted opposition, though, they’ve rarely faltered — unbeaten in 19 of their last 20 such meetings — and that record looks set to continue at the Stirpe.
Prediction: Frosinone 1-3 Juventus
