Juventus dropped their first points of this season’s Europa League campaign on Thursday night, twice coming from behind to draw 2-2 with Rennes at the Allianz Stadium. Zeki Çelik gave the Bianconeri an early lead and Nick Woltemade levelled from the penalty spot in the second half, before a late Lucumì goal was ruled out for offside. Here’s how every Juventus player rated.

Spalletti, fresh from the 3-0 defeat to Lazio, started Woltemade and Kolo Muani together for the first time, and the partnership paid off inside five minutes. Woltemade’s pass in behind the defence on the counter sent Çelik through to finish low into the corner. Rennes responded quickly, though, with Mousa Al-Tamari equalising in the 15th minute after Bryan Reynolds’ cross, and Juve were never fully in control from then on. Vicario kept out a Rongier effort from distance and a Nagida header, but Rennes went ahead just before the break when Douglas Luiz handled in the box and Boulaye Dia converted the penalty into the bottom corner. Juve improved after the interval, with Woltemade levelling from the spot in the 67th minute for his third Europa League goal in as many European appearances. Koopmeiners went close before a late Lucumì goal was chalked off for offside as Juve dominated possession but couldn’t find a winner. The draw leaves Spalletti’s side with seven points from three games, but the Lazio defeat means the pressure on him remains.

Juventus

Vicario: Made good saves from Rongier and Nagida in the first half, but was beaten twice, by Al-Tamari and from the penalty spot. 6.0/10

Gatti: Booked for a foul on Samba in a first half in which Juve looked vulnerable, and was replaced after an hour. 5.0/10

Bremer: Part of a back line that conceded twice and struggled to keep Rennes’ pacey front line quiet. 5.5/10

Kelly: Another uncertain showing at the back as Juve failed to contain Rennes’ crosses and direct play. 5.0/10

⭐Çelik: Scored a clinical early opener with a composed low finish, but was withdrawn at half-time. 7.0/10

Douglas Luiz: Gave away the penalty for Rennes’ second goal with a clumsy handball, an error that cost his team dearly. 4.5/10

Koopmeiners: Supplied the cross that led to Gatti’s header and later forced a save from Samba, one of the more creative players in midfield. 6.0/10

Cambiaso: Offered a regular outlet on the left but was unable to turn possession into clear chances before being replaced in the closing stages. 5.5/10

McKennie: Industrious in the attacking midfield role, playing the pass that created a header for Kolo Muani, though he rarely threatened himself. 6.0/10

Kolo Muani: Fired a powerful header over the bar in the first half but was otherwise starved of service in his first start alongside Woltemade. 5.5/10

⭐Woltemade: Created the opening goal with a perfectly weighted pass for Çelik, and scored a cool penalty to level the match, giving Juve their best moments in attack. 7.5/10

Spalletti: Called for a reaction after Lazio and got half of one, with Juve starting fast before sliding back into old problems. The draw avoids a second consecutive defeat but little more. 5.5/10

Substitutions

Kalulu: Introduced at half-time for Çelik and helped Juve push Rennes back after the break, firing an early second-half effort off target. 5.5/10

Nico González: Brought on for Gatti and added extra attacking impetus as Juve chased a way back into the game. 6.0/10

Alajbegović: Introduced in stoppage time as Juve pushed for a winner. N/A

Lucumì: A late cameo in which he thought he’d won it for Juve, only for his goal to be ruled out for offside. N/A
