In the wake of Juventus’ shocking Coppa Italia exit at the hands of Empoli, former Inter defender and respected pundit Lele Adani has come out in strong support of under-fire Juventus coach Thiago Motta. Despite the team’s recent struggles, Adani believes Motta’s character and accountability make him the right man to lead Juventus through this difficult period.
Adani didn’t mince words when discussing Motta’s position: “I am on Thiago Motta’s side. I would be very careful about parting ways with such an upright, just man. He has the ability to take responsibility for his actions, to feel publicly and sincerely ashamed, to not make excuses, not even taking easy paths for comfortable refuge in moments of difficulty and crisis.”
Reflecting on Juventus’ dismal performance against Empoli, Adani acknowledged the severity of the defeat while praising Motta’s response: “The match was truly awful, a complete and total debacle. To feel publicly and sincerely ashamed is the first act of taking responsibility, of beginning reconstruction or evaluating the right path to follow, rediscover, or learn and make known.”
Adani emphasized the importance of character in overcoming such setbacks: “I believe that men, before professionals, are those who ultimately find this path and can build a journey that can lead back to greatness. I am on Thiago Motta’s side. With the errors, difficulties, uncertainties, and delays. But above all, as a Man with a capital M. Long live football.”
