Arthur Melo’s time at Juventus has come to an end, at least for now. The Brazilian midfielder, who had long found himself on the fringes of the Bianconeri project, is heading back to where it all began: Gremio. Currently en route to Brazil, Arthur will rejoin the club where he grew and blossomed before making the leap to European football.
The player himself confirmed his move through a social media post, sharing images of his journey back home. His departure does not come as a surprise. Despite being included in Juventus’ summer training camp in Germany, it was already clear that his future lay elsewhere.
Arthur’s return is on loan, meaning he is not cutting ties with Juventus altogether. His contract with the Italian club runs until 2027, so his long-term future will still be a topic for discussion once this experience in Brazil concludes. This move follows a series of other loan spells in Europe, including stints at Liverpool, Fiorentina, and more recently Girona in Spain.
For Arthur, the move represents more than just another transfer. Returning to Gremio fulfils a personal desire to go back home, to the club and environment where his football journey first took shape. It is not excluded that this loan spell could pave the way for a permanent return in the future.
