BILD: Liverpool Eye Juventus Star Yildiz as Salah Fallout Deepens

Start

The relationship between Mohamed Salah and Liverpool appears to have reached breaking point. The Egyptian forward’s outburst at Elland Road, following the Reds’ 3-3 draw against Leeds, has left deep scars within the club. According to English reports, Salah is now expected to find a new team after representing Egypt in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, which runs from 21 December to 18 January in Morocco.

Liverpool have already made their stance clear, siding firmly with head coach Arne Slot — the target of Salah’s frustration. In the coming days, the club is expected to meet with the player’s representatives to discuss an exit strategy once and for all, eager to bring an end to an increasingly disruptive situation.

It’s a dramatic turn of events for a player who has become a symbol of the modern Liverpool era. Salah has won every major trophy with the club and only months ago signed a two-year contract extension worth £11 million per season plus bonuses. Yet his form in the 2025–26 campaign has dipped significantly compared to last year’s haul of 29 goals and 18 assists. Slot’s decision to drop him from the starting XI in three consecutive matches reportedly triggered the rift — one that now looks beyond repair.

Unless Salah issues a public apology, his time at Anfield will soon be over. The likeliest destination is Saudi Arabia, with several clubs — including Simeone Inzaghi’s Al Hilal — already making contact with his agent. At 33, a switch to another top European side appears unlikely, while a move to the United States is considered off the table for now, as Salah wants to remain in competitive form ahead of the next World Cup.

Bild report (as quoted by Calciomercato) that for his replacement, Liverpool are preparing to re-enter the transfer market in January after their £500 million summer rebuild. Reports suggest Bournemouth’s Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo is on the radar, while Bild names four possible successors: Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise, and Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz.

The Turkish forward, formerly of Bayern Munich, is under contract with Juventus until June 2029 on a deal worth around £1.4 million per season. Recently, club legend Giorgio Chiellini expressed optimism about a new long-term agreement between Yildiz and Juventus, saying, “There is willingness from both sides.” However, an agreement has yet to be finalised. The 20-year-old No.10 is reportedly seeking a salary in the range of £4.3–5 million, and while Juventus remain confident of signing him to fresh terms, a major bid from Liverpool could dramatically change the scenario.
