Bodo/Glimt vs Juventus: Spalletti’s Surprises with Perin and Adzic Among the Changes

Luciano Spalletti had hinted at changes following the weekend win over Fiorentina, and Juventus are indeed expected to line up with several fresh faces for the Champions League clash against Bodo/Glimt in Norway.

IlBianconero report how just a few days have passed since the match in Florence, and the team has had only one training session to prepare for this demanding European challenge. With limited time on the training ground, Spalletti is expected to stick with the familiar three-man defence and the same tactical setup: a formation featuring wing-backs, two central midfielders, a centre-forward and two attacking midfielders behind him.

However, the personnel on the pitch at the Aspmyra Stadion will look noticeably different from the side that started on Saturday.

Perin Steps In for Di Gregorio

One of the main changes will come between the posts. Mattia Perin looks set to get the nod ahead of Michele Di Gregorio, returning to action for the first time in nearly a month, his last appearance coming in late October against Lazio.
Di Gregorio is expected to be rested, allowing Perin a chance to prove his worth in what are likely to be challenging conditions given the freezing temperatures in Bodo. The starting role for the experienced goalkeeper should also provide fresh energy and leadership from the back.

Adzic to Start in Midfield?

The most notable surprise could come in midfield. Khephren Thuram appears set to begin on the bench, while Manuel Locatelli should retain his place. With Teun Koopmeiners again likely to drop into defence, Spalletti is reportedly considering giving young Milutin Adzic a rare start.
The Serbian midfielder has only featured from the beginning once this season, under Igor Tudor against Atalanta, but his technical quality and energy could be vital in a cold and physical contest.
Should Juventus opt for a three-man midfield, Fabio Miretti remains an alternative option.

Openda Favourite in Attack

Changes are also expected up front. Both Kenan Yildiz and Dusan Vlahovic are likely to rest, paving the way for new combinations in attack. Francisco Conceição is tipped to return to the starting line-up after being left out for most of the game in Florence, while Weston McKennie could operate in a more advanced position behind the striker.
Loïs Openda is currently the favourite to lead the line, though Jonathan David remains in contention. There is also the possibility of an attacking variation with both forwards starting together, with Openda playing just behind the Canadian to increase offensive firepower.
