Flavio Briatore, prominent entrepreneur and passionate Juventus fan, has voiced his frustration over the current state of the club in a video shared on his Instagram profile. In a scathing critique, Briatore lamented Juventus’ recent decisions and called for a complete overhaul, including a return to former coach Massimiliano Allegri.
“Good morning, dear Juventus fans,” Briatore began. “I just wanted to talk to you for a moment. Juventus seems to be at a level we’ve never seen before. A team that finished third under Allegri and won the Coppa Italia—what does this management do? They get rid of the people who win. They sent away Allegri, and the three international players we had.”
Briatore highlighted specific moves that he believes have weakened the team. “Szczesny went to Barcelona, and in his place, we brought in Di Gregorio… with all due respect, but Szczesny is on another level. What sense does that make? Danilo, who was a symbol for us, was treated poorly. And then there’s Cuadrado… it was awful to hear him being booed. But what was he supposed to do? It’s his job, and he went to play elsewhere. Atalanta was smart to take him, while we were fools for letting him go.”
The businessman expressed disbelief at the club’s decision-making process. “How do these things even happen in football?” he asked.
Briatore also criticized Juventus’ leadership structure and recent appointments. “We went to Napoli to get Giuntoli, but at that point, we should have taken De Laurentiis too. Now we have Calvo and Giuntoli forming an ‘infernal duo.’ They’ve thrown everything away, leaving us with overpriced players, sky-high salaries, and all the good young talents sold off.”
Turning his attention to current coach Thiago Motta, Briatore was blunt: “The only thing Motta has in common with Mourinho is the language; otherwise, Bologna is doing just fine without him. Now we’re stuck with lifetime contracts for Giuntoli and Motta, but with this group, we’re going nowhere.”
He reserved praise for Allegri, whom he sees as a stabilizing force the club desperately needs. “The fans are angry because there’s no strategy or leadership. Allegri was that leader who kept the team together even during tough times. So get moving—I’d get rid of everyone and rebuild with Allegri, who’s a lion compared to these kittens.”
