Antonio Cassano, the former AC Milan and Inter Milan star, has not held back in his criticism of Juventus manager Thiago Motta following the team’s recent defeat to Fiorentina. Speaking on the streaming show “Viva el Futbol,” Cassano offered a scathing assessment of Motta’s performance and the current state of the Bianconeri.
Motta’s Struggles
Cassano didn’t mince words when discussing Motta’s difficulties: “Thiago is in great difficulty, total confusion, and zero ideas. He has lost control of the group. I start with Thiago’s statements, who underlines how even with Atalanta, against Fiorentina we started well… He rightly takes responsibility and blame, but I can’t believe he thinks what he says… Against Atalanta he conceded 4 goals, he could have conceded 8, with Fiorentina at the first punch, he collapses.”
The former striker continued his critique, stating, “Seven months later and in light of the last two disastrous weeks, the reality is that he doesn’t have the status to be able to coach Juventus. He is in total difficulty, in great confusion and zero ideas.”
Team Selection Controversy
Cassano also revealed some insider information about Motta’s team selection process: “Then I want to understand something: I’ve heard that he makes the lineup based on who trains better, regardless of names… in my opinion, he has lost the group. I saw a player like McKennie clearly struggling in a position that wasn’t his.”
Management’s Role
The outspoken pundit didn’t spare Juventus’ management either, particularly targeting sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli: “Giuntoli talks but says nothing, nothing strong, without taking a position. He says: I’m convinced of this project. And instead, worse than this in 60 years of Juve’s history has never been done. So when you go to speak, either you’re strong and credible, or the mockery towards the fans, I really don’t like it.”
