Chiellini and Comolli to DAZN: “We Stand United Against Injustice”

After the heated Inter–Juventus match, Giorgio Chiellini and Damien Comolli spoke to DAZN, voicing their frustration over what they described as an “unacceptable” refereeing decision that ruined one of the most anticipated games of the season.

Chiellini did not mince words. “It’s not just us who noticed — what happened tonight is unacceptable,” he said. “It’s hard to even talk about football after something like this. Everyone, from the ownership to the fans, is united. The most important match of the season was ruined by a hasty and inadequate decision. It’s just the latest in a series of unacceptable episodes, and it doesn’t only affect us.”

He went on to criticize the officiating system and the VAR protocol. “There were four officials out there, and still, they couldn’t prevent this. We’ve tried to be constructive, but we’ve reached a breaking point. There wasn’t even room for debate — everyone could see it was wrong, even them, I believe,” Chiellini added. “It becomes difficult to discuss how Juventus played when something like this happens. There’s good football to talk about until the 90th minute, but after that, what can you say?”

Comolli echoed Chiellini’s sentiments, describing the incident as a loss that went beyond the scoreboard. “We lost three points, but Italian football lost more than just that,” he stated. “It was a real injustice. My first message is to the fans — I’m sorry we couldn’t compete on equal terms. From the ownership to the players, we are all united in fighting against these injustices, and we won’t give up.”
