Chiesa’s Bold Gesture: Pay Cut to Return to Juventus

Federico Chiesa has made his intentions clear — he wants Juventus. The Italian forward, currently at Liverpool, is doing everything he can to facilitate a move back to Turin, including agreeing to a significant pay cut to help the deal go through.

The 28-year-old recently featured in one of his rare starts for Liverpool this season in the FA Cup, but his mind appears to be elsewhere. Once content on Merseyside, Chiesa’s situation has changed dramatically. Limited opportunities under Arne Slot and the renewed interest from Juventus have shifted his perspective, opening the door for a potential reunion with the Bianconeri.

A Clear Signal to Juventus

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Chiesa is willing to reduce his salary — currently around six million euros per year — to make the move more feasible for Juventus. His message is simple: “Find an agreement with Liverpool, my contract won’t be an obstacle.”

That gesture has been met with appreciation in Turin. Inside the Juventus headquarters at Continassa, the signal is seen as an act of loyalty and ambition. More than anything, it confirms that Chiesa’s motivation to return is driven by passion rather than money.

Negotiation Stalemate

However, the transfer remains far from complete. Liverpool are standing firm on their position, preferring a permanent sale to recoup the €12 million they initially spent. Juventus, on the other hand, are pushing for a loan deal without any obligation to buy.

Chiesa’s willingness to compromise on wages may help unlock the situation, allowing Juve to adjust their approach. Sporting director Marco Ottolini and CEO Cristiano Giuntoli could look to propose a longer loan arrangement with conditions linked to Chiesa’s appearances and the club’s results — a formula that might satisfy both parties.

Other Names on the Table

While Chiesa remains the top target, Juventus are also considering alternative options for the attacking role behind Kenan Yildiz. Daniel Maldini has emerged as a serious candidate, appreciated by head coach Luciano Spalletti and currently struggling for space at Atalanta following Giacomo Raspadori’s arrival. Another player admired by the club is Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson, though Fiorentina are reportedly reluctant to let him go.
