With Serie A action set to resume, Juventus turn their attention back to the pitch after an international break filled with injury troubles and off-field developments. As the Bianconeri prepare to visit Como on Sunday—the first of three consecutive away fixtures—manager Igor Tudor looks set to revisit a tactical idea glimpsed during the latter stages of the recent match against Milan: the 3-5-2 formation.
Return of the 3-5-2?
IlBianconero report that with limited options during training at Continassa, Tudor has studied his team’s improved performance in the second half against Milan and is seriously considering replicating the 3-5-2 system. This setup could prove effective against Cesc Fabregas’ Como, a side equipped with agile, attacking talent.
Managing Yildiz
The tactical shift during the Milan match was prompted by the substitutions of Kenan Yildiz and Francisco Conceição, as the number 10 was understandably spent. Still, Tudor’s plan is not to drop Yildiz—far from it. The focus remains on getting the most out of the young star, though the tight schedule and three consecutive away games mean Tudor will have to carefully manage his key players’ energy.
The Striker Dilemma
In the 3-5-2, Yildiz is likely to partner one of Dusan Vlahovic—who seems to have a slight edge for a starting spot—or Jonathan David. As a second striker, Yildiz would play closer to goal, helping to relieve the primary forward of constant defensive attention and making Juventus a more unpredictable attacking threat.
