Juventus started their Serie A campaign in perfect fashion with a 2–0 victory over Parma, a result that pleased head coach Igor Tudor both for the points gained and for the way his side approached a difficult match. Speaking to DAZN after the game, the Croatian manager shared his thoughts on the performance, individual contributions, and the week ahead.
Tudor: “It Was Not Guaranteed We Would Win”
Tudor admitted the contest was anything but straightforward, praising his team’s patience and composure.
“I take everything with me,” he said. “It was a very difficult match as we expected. Parma were not as closed as we thought, but it was not easy to find space. At half-time, I told the players to continue with patience, that a goal would come. We did well not to concede. Starting with a win is important because we’ve seen the other results, and it’s not guaranteed you win at home against a team that is not at your level.”
On Substitutes and Bremer’s Impact
The coach highlighted the role of his substitutions and the crucial contribution of Gleison Bremer, returning after a long absence.
“All the changes were excellent. These first games are never easy, there are always some uncertainties, so real compliments to the players. Parma are organised, an old-fashioned team with an interesting defensive block. Bremer saved almost a goal, and then little by little, the quality came through, also with the substitutions.”
“Vlahovic? We’ll See, a Week Is Missing”
Attention inevitably turned to Dusan Vlahovic and his future. Tudor insisted he is focused and professional, while leaving the door open to developments.
“He is concentrated, a Juventus player, doing what he has to do with seriousness. He’s had a perfect month of preparation, in every match he’s played well, and also in training. Now we’ll see what happens in this remaining week. We’ve spoken, then let’s see. He’s doing well, he’s committed, and that goal was beautiful, a goal of real quality. A lot of quality also from Kenan. Now we wait. I accept everything, I have my opinions which I share, but in the end the club makes the final decision.”
“David Has a Rare Quality”
Tudor reserved special praise for Jonathan David, who impressed with his instinct and timing inside the box.
“David has something in the penalty area; he moves extremely well. It’s a rare gift because he’s a boy who thinks, he’s focused, and when someone moves like that in the area — it’s a lot of class.”
