Del Piero: “Juventus Were Spectacular, but It’s Another Year of Rebuilding”

Alessandro Del Piero shared his thoughts with Sky Sport Italia after Juventus’ intense clash with Galatasaray, praising the team’s spirit but reminding everyone that the club remains in a period of reconstruction.

“So Much Pride — Just One Step Away from an Epic Result”

The Juventus legend expressed admiration for his former team’s performance, describing the match as a spirited display that came agonisingly close to something historic.

“There’s so much pride — they came just one left foot away from an epic result. Juventus played a spectacular game, showing the kind of spirit that, if possible, should always be on display.

It’s a spirit that was missing a bit from Inter yesterday, and one that Juventus themselves too often lose sight of.

Tonight, even with ten men, it was clear that when they take more risks, they create a lot more. They can perform better — the underlying problem is that they still struggle defensively in certain situations. Unfortunately, this remains another year of rebuilding.

We’ll see where Juventus restart from. On Sunday they play Roma, and they can’t afford to lose more ground.”

“The Stadium Was Wonderful Tonight”

Del Piero also singled out the atmosphere at the Allianz Stadium, describing how the fans and team united in a night full of emotion and mutual pride.

“The stadium was wonderful tonight — the supporters created an exceptional atmosphere, and the players responded well. There’s a real sense of unity.

There’s also a lot of disappointment because every fan knows the team wasn’t going to win the Champions League, but they also know Juventus deserved more tonight.

As I said before, you must make your people proud — your teammates, the fans in the stands, and those watching at home. That should be a goal for anyone who plays football, beyond winning and earning. The sense of belonging is something priceless.”
