Di Livio: “Juventus Must Go Straight for Their Goal. Soulé Is a Regret, His Duel with Yildiz Will Be Beautiful”

Ahead of the much-anticipated clash between Juventus and Roma at the Allianz Stadium, former midfielder and “double ex” Angelo Di Livio shared his thoughts on both sides, the progress under Luciano Spalletti, and the state of the Bianconeri project. Speaking exclusively to TuttoJuve.com, the former Italy international touched on key tactical and individual talking points surrounding Saturday’s encounter.

“The Win Over Bologna Gave Enthusiasm and Motivation”

Di Livio believes Juventus approach this match in high spirits after their recent performance. “Juventus will head into it on the back of an important scalp like Bologna,” he explained. “That victory brings enthusiasm and motivation. It’ll be a great game.”

“Bremer’s Return Is Fundamental”

Asked whether Spalletti could switch to a back four following the return of Gleison Bremer, Di Livio was clear about the Brazilian’s importance. “His return is absolutely vital — we’re talking about one of the strongest defenders around. But whether Spalletti opts for three or four at the back won’t make much difference to the outcome,” he said.

“Spalletti Is a Level Above”

The former Juve and Roma man highlighted the evolution under Spalletti compared to Igor Tudor. “Spalletti is on another level compared to my friend Igor Tudor,” he said. “But he must stay focused for the good of Juventus and truly understand which players to rely on. Above all, he needs to find strength and consistency.”

“Roma Are Solid — Gasperini Is Extraordinary”

Turning to his other former club, Di Livio praised Gasperini’s work at Roma while issuing a warning to Juventus. “Roma are having a magnificent league campaign — Gasperini is an extraordinary coach,” he said. “For the Giallorossi, a draw in Turin would be important, which is why Juventus must make the most of home advantage.”

“Yildiz vs Soulé Will Be a Beautiful Duel”

The Juventus legend also looked ahead to a contest between two of Serie A’s brightest young players. “We’re talking about a talent like Soulé — full of dribbling, goals, and quality,” Di Livio said. “But Yildiz is no less talented. Both are special players, and both defences will have to watch them closely. It’ll be a beautiful battle.”

He also admitted Juventus may have acted too hastily by allowing Soulé to leave. “Yes, losing him hurt — he’s a player who can change games,” he added.

“Juventus Must Go Straight for Their Goal”

With three points potentially bringing Juventus much closer to the top four and keeping faint Scudetto hopes alive, Di Livio called for a push in the decisive part of the season. “With a win, Juventus would rightfully be back in the fight for the top four,” he said. “They’ve missed too many chances — now it’s time to go straight for the objective.”

“Frattesi? I’d Prefer a Playmaker Like Modrić”

When asked about possible January reinforcements, Di Livio praised Davide Frattesi but suggested Juve may need a different type of midfielder. “I like Frattesi a lot, but I’m not sure he’s the right fit for what Juventus need,” he explained. “Perhaps they need more of an organiser — someone like Modrić. But let’s see what happens. Spalletti should have a free hand — he’s the only one who truly knows who the team needs.”
