Gatti

Federico Gatti to Sky: “As a forward, I’d score 15-20 goals”

After Juventus’ last minute 3-3 draw against Roma, Federico Gatti spoke candidly to Sky Sport, reflecting on the team’s performance, defensive struggles and his own ambitions.

“It’s an important goal, but only if it means something by the end of the season. Otherwise… sure, it keeps us alive, it’s crucial, but it’s disappointing because we came here to win,” Gatti admitted, summarising the team’s mixed emotions following a frustrating result.

The defender highlighted the need for introspection within the squad: “We need to analyse the goals we’re conceding. They come from individual mistakes. We’re letting in too many, and in the past our defence was our strength — it’s something we must work on.”

Despite the setback, Gatti emphasised the team’s determination to keep fighting. “It’s a mix of emotions. There have been moments where we found ourselves seven points behind, and it’s tough to recover from that. Now we’re four points back, which keeps you more alive.”

Interestingly, Gatti also joked about his past as a midfielder, saying, “I used to play in midfield — as a forward I’d score 15 to 20 goals.”

The Juventus defender concluded with a message of resilience: “We have to start again. The season isn’t over, and until the maths says otherwise, we need to believe at all costs. From tomorrow, we’ll get back to work and prepare for Saturday’s match, which will be crucial.”
