Fiorentina Move for Zhegrova as Juventus Prepare to Sell — and Viery Completes the Viola’s Defensive Rebuild

Edon Zhegrova’s time at Juventus appears to be drawing to a close, with Fiorentina emerging as the most concrete suitor for the Kosovar winger as the bianconeri look to clear peripheral squad members and generate the sales required to fund their summer rebuild.

Zhegrova joined Juventus with genuine promise but found opportunities strictly limited under Luciano Spalletti, who had little room in his plans for the 25-year-old wide player. A fresh challenge elsewhere has long seemed the logical outcome, and Fiorentina — under new manager Fabio Grosso and with sporting director Fabio Paratici driving their recruitment — are prepared to make that happen.

A Fiorentina Under Reconstruction

The context at Fiorentina is one of significant change following a harrowing season that saw the club flirt with relegation before securing safety in the final weeks of the campaign. Grosso has replaced Paolo Vanoli in the dugout and has wasted no time in setting out his requirements for the squad he intends to build.

The first and most striking piece of incoming business has already been confirmed: Brazilian defender Viery Fernandes Santos Lopes, born in 2005, has joined from Gremio for a fee of €15 million plus €2 million in bonuses — a record outlay for Fiorentina on a defensive player and a clear signal of the ambition the club are channelling into this rebuild. Viery, readers may recall, was the same player proposed by Gremio to Juventus as a makeweight in the Arthur negotiations earlier this summer.

The Zhegrova Deal: Terms and Timeline

Zhegrova represents a rather more modest outlay for Fiorentina but is seen as an effective, experienced wide option who can add quality and versatility to Grosso’s attack. Juventus are open to selling and the two clubs are in dialogue over terms, with a fee in the region of €8 to €10 million understood to be sufficient to complete the deal.

For Carnevali, even a relatively modest sale of this kind matters in the context of the club’s broader financial obligations — every capital gain generated before the end of the window contributes to the balance sheet targets Juventus have committed to meeting under their UEFA Settlement Agreement. Zhegrova’s departure, alongside those of Miretti, Di Gregorio, and others, forms part of that steady outgoing operation that must precede any significant spending.

For the player himself, a move to Florence offers what Juventus could not: regular football, a central role in a rebuilding project, and a manager in Grosso who is building from scratch and will need experienced wide players from day one.
