Fiorentina are once again exploring the possibility of signing Daniele Rugani from Juventus, as the winter transfer window nears its end. IlBianconero report how the Italian defender, who returned to Turin last summer following a loan spell at Ajax, has found limited space in Massimiliano Allegri’s plans due to a combination of injuries and tactical choices.
After suffering a setback a few weeks ago, Rugani remains sidelined, but that has not deterred Fiorentina from testing the waters. The Tuscan club, who had previously made initial enquiries earlier in the transfer window, have now re-established contact with the player’s representatives to assess the conditions for a potential move.
Paratici’s Familiar Target
The renewed interest bears the mark of Fabio Paratici, now part of the Viola’s management team, who knows Rugani well from their shared time at Juventus. Paratici is said to see the 31-year-old defender as an ideal reinforcement for Fiorentina’s back line, which has lacked depth in recent weeks.
Fiorentina’s preferred option would be a loan deal until the end of the season, allowing Rugani to gain regular playing time while strengthening Vincenzo Italiano’s defence. Such a move would, however, mean another temporary spell away from Turin for Rugani — something that has characterised much of his career in recent seasons.
Juventus’ Stance and Rugani’s Decision
Juventus have yet to decide whether to sanction the transfer. The club’s own defensive shortages could complicate matters, particularly given injuries elsewhere in the squad. However, if Rugani were to express a clear desire to leave in search of more minutes on the pitch, the Bianconeri might be willing to grant his request.
So far this season, Rugani has managed just 350 minutes of playing time. With only a few days left before the transfer window closes, the situation remains fluid. All eyes now turn to the player himself — his willingness to move could be the key that unlocks a late deal between the two Serie A clubs.
