Francesco Calvo to Leave Juventus at the End of the Season: A New Challenge Awaits With Aston Villa

Start

Francesco Calvo’s journey with Juventus is coming to an end for the second time. TMW report that the highly respected executive, currently serving as Managing Director of Revenue and Football Development, will depart the Turin club at the conclusion of the season. This decision was made by Calvo himself, as he looks forward to a new professional chapter.

After leaving Juventus, Calvo will remain in the world of football, joining English club Aston Villa. At Villa, he will take on a senior management role, focusing on all areas outside of the football department. This move marks a significant step in Calvo’s international career, as he transitions from Italian to English football.

A Career Built on Expertise and Leadership

Francesco Calvo, originally from Turin, has established a solid reputation in both marketing and football management. He graduated in Business Administration from Bocconi University and earned a Master’s in Strategic Marketing in 2002. Calvo began his professional journey in 2004 at Philip Morris International, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become Director of Event Marketing by 2011.

His entry into the football world came in 2011, when he joined Juventus as Commercial Director. By 2014, he had been promoted to Chief Revenue Officer, overseeing the club’s commercial growth. In 2015, Calvo moved to FC Barcelona, maintaining the same role until 2018, before joining AS Roma as Chief Revenue Officer and later as Chief Operating Officer.

Calvo returned to Juventus in 2022 as Chief of Staff and was promoted in January 2023 to Chief Football Officer, taking charge of the club’s sporting operations. Most recently, he has held the position of Managing Director Revenue & Football Development, playing a key role in Juventus’s strategic restructuring and development.

Looking Ahead: A New Adventure at Aston Villa

Calvo’s vast experience and strategic vision have made him a pivotal figure in every club he has served. His move to Aston Villa signals a new adventure in the Premier League, where he will bring his expertise to one of England’s most ambitious clubs. At Villa, Calvo will be responsible for all non-football operations, contributing to the club’s growth and international profile.
