A fascinating transfer triangle is developing between Juventus, Inter, and Atalanta, with Davide Frattesi at its centre. The Italy international midfielder is set to leave the nerazzurri this summer, and according to journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Frattesi is keen to relaunch his career after spending too much time on the Inter bench — and Juventus is his preferred destination.
Why Frattesi Is Leaving Inter
Frattesi’s relationship with Inter has broken down irreparably. He has been pushing for more playing time for over a year, only to see his minutes diminish further — even under new manager Cristian Chivu. A January move to Nottingham Forest fell through when Liverpool refused to allow Curtis Jones to move to Inter in the opposite direction, and a permanent summer exit now appears inevitable. Nottingham Forest have once again made enquiries, while Napoli are also monitoring the situation — particularly if André Frank Zambo Anguissa departs.
Despite those alternatives, Frattesi has shown a clear openness to joining Juventus, where manager Spalletti knows him well from their time together with the national side.
The Cambiaso Connection — and Why Palestra Is the Key
Inter value Frattesi at no less than €30 million, and their counter-proposal has been to suggest a like-for-like swap involving Andrea Cambiaso. The logic is straightforward: Inter need a replacement for Denzel Dumfries, whose release clause is being activated by Real Madrid, and Cambiaso — who can operate on either flank — fits the profile. Frattesi and Carlos Augusto are both identified as potential makeweights in a deal.
However, everything depends on one prior outcome. Inter are continuing to push hard for Atalanta’s Marco Palestra, with the Bergamo club holding firm at €55 million — well above Inter’s opening offer of €45 million including bonuses. Only if Palestra proves out of reach will Inter pivot seriously towards Cambiaso, at which point a swap involving Frattesi becomes a genuine possibility.
What This Means for Juventus
For Spalletti, Frattesi would represent a significant midfield upgrade — a dynamic, goal-scoring runner who would add both energy and goals from deep. The swap structure, meanwhile, would allow Juventus to move on Cambiaso — a player linked with Barcelona and Como — without losing the fee entirely. Whether the Palestra deal collapses or not, this is a story worth watching very closely indeed.
