Gazzetta: Giuntoli told Motta, “I Am Ashamed At Having Chosen You”

Juventus have decided to make a drastic change to salvage their season finale by dismissing Thiago Motta and appointing Igor Tudor as the new head coach. As of the afternoon of March 23, this move is yet to be officially announced, but the domino effect is set to begin with the Croatian signing until the end of the season, with the possibility of discussing a potential extension. But how did it come to this decision?

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that after the 3-0 defeat against Fiorentina, Cristiano Giuntoli didn’t mince words in his face-to-face meeting with the coach. “I am ashamed of having chosen you,” the technical director reportedly thundered in the presence of Scanavino, criticizing the team’s inability to propose a suitable playing style. Motta, who never considered resigning, appeared cold and seemingly calm, which apparently didn’t sit well with the management who would have preferred a more “passionate” reaction. This conviction of having done everything possible reportedly pushed the leadership to make a change.

Furthermore, there seems to be a difference of opinion regarding the transfer market strategy: Giuntoli believes that only a few acquisitions would be sufficient to compete for the Scudetto, while Motta thinks more reinforcements are needed.

At this point, Igor Tudor, a name that seems to have convinced even the locker room members, is called upon to chase Motta’s former team, Bologna. The Rossoblu have overtaken the Bianconeri in the last round thanks to a 5-0 victory against Lazio, another contender in the race for Champions League qualification.
