Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin has undergone surgery on his right hand and will be out of action for approximately two months, ruling him out of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
Successful Surgery and Recovery Timeline
Juventus confirmed that on Monday afternoon, Perin underwent a surgical procedure—arthrodesis of the proximal interphalangeal joint of the fifth finger on his right hand—due to post-traumatic arthrosis resulting from a longstanding subluxation injury. The operation, performed by Dr. Battiston and Dr. Ferrero with club medical staff present, was successful. Juventus confirmed that Perin is expected to return to the pitch in about eight weeks.
Out of the Club World Cup
The recovery period means Perin will not be available for the Club World Cup, which takes place from June 14 to July 13 in the United States. The timing of his return is projected for late July, after the tournament has concluded. As a result, Juventus will be without their experienced backup goalkeeper behind Michele Di Gregorio for the duration of the competition.
