Tiago Gabriel

Inter and Juventus Track Lecce Defender Tiago Gabriel

Start

Inter and Juventus are both monitoring Lecce’s Portuguese defender Tiago Gabriel, a player whose rapid development in Serie A has caught the attention of Italy’s two biggest clubs. Calciomercato report that the 21-year-old centre-back, signed from Estrela Amadora in last winter’s transfer window, is considered one of the most promising defensive prospects in the league.

According to reports from Portugal, the move to Lecce has already proven financially rewarding for Estrela Amadora. The deal brought much-needed revenue to the Lisbon-based club when completed, but further benefits could still arrive depending on Tiago Gabriel’s progress and future transfers.

Contract Details and Performance Bonuses

Lecce reportedly paid just over €1 million to secure the defender’s signature, with a performance clause of €500,000 triggered once he made ten appearances for the club — a milestone already achieved as part of Lecce’s successful fight for Serie A survival.

A second bonus of €500,000 is due should Tiago Gabriel reach thirty appearances before his contract expires in 2029. Given his increasing importance in the team, that target appears realistic if he remains at the club long-term.

A Closer Look at the Sell-On Clauses

However, Portuguese sources note an important detail within the agreement. If the player is sold before completing thirty matches for Lecce, that extra €500,000 will be paid only if the Italian club transfers him for €2 million or more.

Additionally, Estrela Amadora retained a 10% resale clause, meaning they are entitled to a share of any future transfer fee. This structure could prove lucrative if Tiago Gabriel’s value continues to rise — something likely if interest from Juventus and Inter turns into concrete offers in the coming months.

With both Italian giants reportedly exploring defensive reinforcements ahead of next season, the young Portuguese centre-back’s name has quickly moved up their shortlist, making Tiago Gabriel one to watch in the upcoming transfer window.
