Inter, Frattesi Set for a January Exit? Juventus Monitoring the Situation

Start

The situation surrounding Davide Frattesi at Inter is becoming increasingly tense. Just a few months after being viewed as a long-term part of the club’s project, the midfielder now appears closer than ever to an exit. According to recent reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport (as quoted by IlBianconero), Frattesi is expected to request a transfer in January, with Juventus among the clubs reportedly showing interest.

What began last summer with talk of a contract extension has now turned into an impending departure. Under Simone Inzaghi, the former Sassuolo man already struggled to become a regular starter, but things have worsened since Cristian Chivu took over on the bench. His playing time has been drastically reduced, and his role within the team looks uncertain.

Limited Impact and Reduced Playing Time

Since Chivu’s appointment, Frattesi has slipped further down the pecking order, featuring in just seven brief outings in Serie A for a total of 189 minutes. When he does play, his impact has been minimal — no goals, no assists, and limited involvement in attacking phases. For a midfielder once renowned for his late runs and scoring instinct, those numbers highlight a worrying decline in form and confidence.

January Departure on the Horizon

From a financial standpoint, Frattesi’s book value in January will stand at around €16.4 million, before decreasing to €13.1 million by June. With the January transfer window approaching, both the club and the player are expected to make their assessments. Frattesi himself is reportedly keen to seek a move that would allow him to regain playing time and boost his chances of returning to Rino Gattuso’s Italy squad ahead of next year’s international fixtures.

A Summer of Interest

During the summer, Napoli, Juventus, and Roma all tested the waters for Frattesi, but Inter were firm in their stance. The Nerazzurri set prohibitively high prices — €45 million for Roma, and up to €70 million for Juventus and Napoli — in an effort to ward off domestic rivals. However, with his current situation deteriorating, Inter may now be more open to listening to offers in the upcoming transfer window.

Juventus Could Reignite Interest

Juventus, meanwhile, are actively exploring midfield options to strengthen Luciano Spalletti’s squad as early as January. Sporting director Giovanni Manna has recently stated that significant investments are not expected in the winter market, but the club will remain alert to opportunities that might arise. Given Frattesi’s availability and Serie A experience, a potential move to Turin could quickly become a concrete possibility.
