Jeremie Boga has expressed all his pride and joy at wearing the Juventus shirt, describing his move to Turin as a blessing and the perfect opportunity at this stage of his career. Speaking to Lega Serie A’s channels, the Ivorian winger reflected on his debut at the Allianz Stadium, his footballing roots and his ambitions with the Bianconeri.
On his first appearance in front of the home fans, Boga did not hide how special the occasion felt. “My debut at the Allianz Stadium was quite emotional. We were losing the match and then we managed to equalise. For me, it was a good first home game because I managed to deliver an assist. I got to experience the magnificent fans in this magnificent stadium.” For him, Juventus represents something truly significant on both a professional and personal level. “For me, Juventus means a great deal. It is a great pleasure and a source of immense pride. It is also a blessing because I am very fortunate to be here. This opportunity has come at the perfect time in my career because I am now in my prime. I am making the most of this moment and giving it my all every day.”
Boga then outlined what supporters can expect from him on the pitch, promising constant effort and attacking intent. “I think what the fans and the club can expect from me is to always give my maximum, always trying to dribble, score and provide decisive passes. I know this league very well. I have spent four and a half, almost five years here in Italy. So I know Serie A very well and I know what people expect from me – and that is what I am ready to give.”
The winger also spoke about how his style of play was shaped growing up in Marseille, where football in the streets forged his flair and courage in one-on-one situations. “My style of play… it is true that it was born in Marseille, the city where I was born. That is where I learned everything. As we say back home, we played in the neighbourhood with friends from when we were very little. And it is true that my instinct for dribbling comes from there: to provoke my opponent, always one-on-one. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not, but that is where my courage comes from.”
A key figure in his adaptation to life at Juventus has been Manuel Locatelli, with whom Boga shared important years at Sassuolo. “It was really nice to see ‘Loca’ again because I began my adventure in Serie A with him at Sassuolo. We are very good friends, we get along very well both on and off the pitch. And to see him today as Juventus captain is something I am very pleased and immensely proud of. We have lots of shared memories from our days at Sassuolo. We have already spoken a lot; he is someone who has always helped me, who tried to put me at ease right away, who made me feel comfortable and integrated into the team. So, a big thank you to him.”
Boga then turned to his relationship with the coach and the tactical demands placed upon him. “The coach asks me to be myself, to give everything, to dribble, to get into the box. These are things I try to work on during training sessions. At the moment I am working hard to regain the rhythm of matches and training sessions. That is what coach Luciano Spalletti is asking of me.”
Finally, the winger outlined the objectives he shares with his new team-mates, highlighting the ambition that drives the Juventus dressing room. “We are discussing this with the whole team. I have joined a very ambitious group that wants to play a leading role. I think there is still a lot to play for. The goal is to go as far as possible in the UEFA Champions League and to secure a Champions League spot for next season through the league. I think we are on the right track. We have to continue working.”
