Dibu Martínez

Juventus and Dibu Martínez Reach Agreement in Principle on Personal Terms

Juventus have taken a significant step forward in their pursuit of Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez, with the club reaching an agreement in principle with the Argentine goalkeeper’s representatives over personal terms. The breakthrough, reported by Romeo Agresti — editorial director of IlBianconero — confirms that Juventus have already found a basis for agreement with the player’s entourage, with a three-year contract on the table.

What Has Been Agreed — and What Remains

The development is a significant signal of Juventus’s firm intention to land the World Cup-winning goalkeeper. Attention now shifts entirely to negotiations with Aston Villa, who hold the player’s registration.

That is where the real work begins. Villa are understood to be asking around €20 million for a goalkeeper contracted until 2029 and earning in the region of €7–9 million per season — a wage structure that Juventus will need to carefully manage. The three-year deal agreed in principle with Martínez’s camp is likely structured to make the financial commitment more palatable on the club’s balance sheet, given that the Argentine turns 34 in September.

Why This Matters

The agreement on personal terms removes the biggest uncertainty from Juventus’s perspective: the player wants to come. With Martínez having already rejected all other approaches and made clear his desire to move to Turin, Juventus now hold genuine momentum. The focus for sporting director Damien Comolli is to translate that momentum into a deal with Aston Villa — one that satisfies the English club’s valuation without overextending Juventus financially.

With the World Cup under way and Martínez representing Argentina, time is of the essence. Juventus will want this resolved quickly — and for the first time this summer, the signs suggest they are closer than ever to getting their man.
